E. Howard #49 Astronomical Wall Regulator w/ rare # 1 Movement. Reverse painted 14" glass dial w/ arabic numerals on the chapter dial, sub hour dial w/ open club hand and an exposed escapement through the sub seconds dial. Rare No. 1 movement w/ jeweled pallets and etched bracket, pendulum crutch has lock down hardware. Quality mercurial pendulum w/ 4 glass jars etched w/ grape leaves numbered "71 - 2915". Carved case w/ removable bezel and door. The dial has some paint touchups with an original over-coated finish, clock is running. 53"H x 22 1/2"W x 12"D. "Consignors Notes": This clock was originally sold to Ira Blake, a founder of the Elgin Watch Co, on August 24th, 1872. Has been measured to 2915 pennyweights of mercury for proper function; the original owner was noted to have ordered this modified case with out its typical fancy crests and carvings to suit its original resting place".
