A. Howard & Co. Wall Regulator, 14 inch repainted iron dial with black Roman hour numerals, sub seconds dial and pierced spade hands, brass eight day, weight driven, time only movement with Graham deadbeat escapement, signed on the front plate "A. Howard & Co., Boston," flat iron side weight with pulley mounted to the right on the top of the seat board, round wood pendulum rod and painted tin covered weight. The walnut case is similar to the E. Howard & Co. No. 13 wall regulator, with door bezel hinged at the top, arched lower door with glass panel, mirrored back and brass beat indicator at the bottom, 56 in. high x 19 1/2 in. wide x 8 1/2 in. deep. Albert Howard, a cousin of Edward Howard, went into partnership in Dec. 1858 as "E. Howard & Company." In March of 1861, they formed a joint stock company called the "Howard Clock & Watch Company," where Albert Howard was chosen as President and Edward as Superintendent and Treasurer. The factory was closed in May of 1863 and in October of the same year, Edward was able to reform the company with himself as President.
