Description:

Arthur Waagen Bronze - Kabyle Au Retour De La Chasse (1883-1898). A monumental bronze with the scene of a Kabyle hunter returning from his hunt; he is seated on horseback with a lamb across his lap, he holds the skin of an Algerian wild cat up in his left hand, his long rifle can be seen slung across his back; at his feet, 3 hunting dogs gather, feeding on a carcass. Has excellent detail and proportion, a beautiful brown patina; signed "Waagen - Sculp'" and the foundry inscription reads "G. Martin Fondeur". The title "Kabyle Au Retour De La Chasse" translates from French to "A Kabyle Back From The Hunt". 29"W x 37"H x 14"D.
