Ansonia Figural Mantle Cock - Denis Papin. Case has a black enamel & iron base with clock tower and seated figure of Denis Papin, the inventor of the "steam digester". Has an inset porcelain dial signed "Ansonia Clock Co., Patented", Roman hour numerals, fancy gilt pierced hands and exposed Brocot escapement with steel pallets; brass 8 day spring driven movement is signed "Ansonia Clock Co., New York, U.S.A.", has fancy filigree engraved plates and an half hour strike on a coiled gong. Finish is worn off on the cast metal, dial has hairlines, missing minute hand. 16.5 in. high x 21 in. wide x 8 in. deep.
