Description:
Brass Gunner's Level. This device was used to determine the proper location for the breech sight on artillery pieces. This is a Civil War era piece marked with an American eagle on top over "US" over "Watervilet" over "Arsenal" over "1859". The glass spirit level on the back side has broken and the brass tube is still in fine condition. The brass body is .15" thick and is 6 1/8 " wide by 6 1/4 " tall. The number 10 is stamped on the back side at the top of the brass body. A very rare artillery accessory. Estimated Value$1,000 - 1,500.
