CIVIL WAR AMBROTYPE OF GEORGE SAWYER AGE 14. George Sawyer signed up for the U.S. military at the age of 14, his father found him and pulled him from the ranks for his safety; that summer he "fell" off of a roof and died. This is a wonderful ambrotype, he is seated in a chair in his uniform, his rosy cheeks are embellished. Has some losses at the corners, though the image is crisp. Has a black painted tin backing. In a small hinged case. 2.5"W x 3"H. Estimated Value $250 - 400.
