Description:

CONFEDERATE MARKED TOWER MUSKET & SCABBARD. Very rare set comprised of a tower musket, 75 caliber and 33" barrel with a leather scabbard and oval silver name plate engraved Lien J.C. Jackson La Reg ART C.S.A. in three lines. Like most confederate arms, this one shows hard use. Stock has 3 nails above the ramrod channel and a hole drilled about 4 inches from the end - probably for a homemade sling. Lock has a small crown behind the hammer and is marked Tower. Butt-plate, trigger guard and lock-plate retaining bar are all brass with nice patina. Leather scabbard is about 53" long and in good condition considering its age and hard useage. The strap and buckle are complete and functional. There are two ring loops on the bottom of the scabbard, one of which still has a strap about 32" long. The Lieutenant most likely strapped his rifle to a cannon when traveling between engagements. A rare opportunity to acquire an historic confederate set. Estimated Value $2,000 - 3,000.
