Description:

Davis Pattern Medical Coil Electrical Generating Galvanic Action Machine. Mid 19th century machine has a bottle cell battery strapped with brass to a wood base with 4 copper wire wrapped bundles on the sides alternation connection through 2 steel bars at the top driven by a lever mechanism connected to the fly wheel; has brass contact point with screws wired to the rosewood and walnut teardrop shaped positive and negative rods, capped at the ends with brass. The rosewood base has 4 spherical brass feet and a stamped metal tag which reads "Jerome Jewell & Co. , Manufacturers of Galvanic Instruments, Bristol, Con". In an original rosewood veneered case with lock. Case measures 6 in. high x 11 in. wide x 9.5 in. deep.
