E. WATERS, NEW YORK CIVIL WAR SADDLE. Civil War saddle has a wooden tree covered with a stiff pale-colored rawhide. Has a tarnished brass plate that reads E. Waters Maker Troy, N.Y. in 3 lines. Saddle has straps and ring on both sides for attachment to a horse and is mounted on a brass pole with an 8.5" round base. The top right side of the saddle is marked with the owners name, P.V. Hagner Lt. Col. Ordn. You seldom see a Civil War saddle identified with its owner. 11.5"W. Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.
