the oak case with spindled top and acanthus carvings, brass 8-day movement with two weights and H. Contant's patent gravity escapement, dial signed "H. Contant's Gravity Escapement, 1891, E. Howard & Co., Boston" movement signed "E. Howard & Co., Boston," this is possibly a prototype made by E. Howard for Conant's May 8, 1894 patent, no. 519421, for gravity escapement clocks.

    Condition:
  • Retains the original finish. The dial has been touched up and the signature/numeral strengthened. Functions properly (2-hour test).
