E. Howard No. 68 Astronomical Floor Regulator. Original 14 in. painted metal dial signed "E. Howard & Co." with sweep minute hand with 5 minute hour numbers, 4 in. sub seconds dial over a 4 in. sub hour dial. Brass 8 day weight driven time only movement signed "E. Howard & Co., Boston" has deadbeat escapement, Geneva stop, 2 quality brass solid pulleys, brass covered side weight and long steel pendulum rod, original silvered 4 steel jar mercurial cluster pendulum with beat adjustment disc at the bottom (numbered 455 over 3126 over 11-1908) and silvered beat indicator. Excellent floor standing carved walnut case has a gallery crest with seashell over pediment maiden's head, raised panes with 4 turned and carved finials, overhanging cornice top with 4 carved pendant corbels, carved mounts, raised panels, carved corbels at the bottom and a large block base with inset walnut panels. Case is in excellent condition with an original finish. The upper gallery crest above the cornice is a later addition and not original to this clock. 105 in. high x 34.5 in. wide x 16.75 in. deep.
