EARLY GERMAN O/C PICTURE CLOCK W/ GRAND SONNARIE MOVEMENT. An oil on canvas river side village scene with a small schoolhouse with a clock tower, painted by Aldonin Schmid, Ragaz. The working clock tower has an early Grand Sonnarie movement with a Verge escapement and a triple recoil wind system with brass and wood pulleys. The back panel bears a stamped signature - I. C. Ziegler in Schaffhausen (No 405). Movement is in good condition, striking on 2 coiled anvils; the paint is good with no signs of restoration. 32"W x 25"H. 32"W x 25"H.
