EARLY SCOTTISH BLACK WATCH DIRK - C 1770'S. The blade has a narrow and a wide fuller with a file-worked spine. The rounded baluster style hilt is carved in a Celtic interlace design and has white metal ferrules with high relief thistle and leaf pattern. The grip also has white metal studs. A clear cairngorm stone is inset on the pommel. The small utility knife has a small cairngorm stone and has a ferrule at the pommel that matches that on the dirk. The small fork has a slightly different color cairngorm and the ferrule at the pommel has a similar but not identical design. Both of these have identical wood handles carved in a Celtic interlace design with white metal studs. The black leather scabbard has engraved white metal mounts with applied thistles. The scabbard has shrunk and the blade does not fully seat. Rust and pitting to the blade, otherwise excellent condition. 3"W x 14.5"H. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
