EDWARD CHARLES BABB GOLD HANDLED PRESENTATION CANE - 1884. The cane features a very fancy gold handle with scrolled leafy design. It is inscribed on the top " E. C. Babb - Dept. Com'd Minn - from - Geo. N. Morgan - Post No.4, G.A.R. - 50th Birthday - Feb. 1, 84". The cane has a long ebonized tapered shaft. In very good condition, 1 horizontal mark in the neck of the handle and few minor rubs on the shaft. Born in NH, Babb enlisted in 1862 to the NH 9th Infantry (Company "F") and mustered out 1865 in Alexandria, Va. He later moved, and died in Minneapolis, MN in 1899. 36.5"W.
