FRENCH INDUSTRIAL ROLLING BALL CLOCK W/ FIGURAL LION. The movement is driven from large steel balls feeding into the paddle wheel in the back driving the 7 wheel train. Complete with an exposed silvered lever platform escapement. The heavy bronze movement and case have a gold dore finish. The 3 1/4" enameled porcelain dial has a rhinestone bezel around both the timepiece and the barometer. A mercury stick thermometer stands to the left of the movement. The case is embellished with applied champleve and beveled glass on 4 sides with a large figural lion at the top. As the paddle wheel rotates it drops the balls into the tray below; which then are placed into a container at the top, hidden under the lion figure. Circa 1890. 11"W x 22"H x 6"D.
