Description:

FRENCH MODEL 1777, FLINTLOCK 75 CALIBER MUSKET. Barrel and stock cut back to two bands. Barrel is 31" long and original front band with sight has been attached near muzzle. Lock is in very good condition with an S in a circle over M imp and St. Etienne under that. Top tang is marked "malf" 1777 and top of barrel is marked A, and what appears to be a French horn, then N. 77. Stock has the letters TARN carved on right side of stock above a round cartouche about the size of a quarter. Left side of butt-stock is dished for cheek and butt-plate is marked CLL 15. A rare piece that undoubtedly saw service in the Revolutionary War. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
