George Jones Astronomical Regulator. 17 in. silvered astronomical dial has incised black sweep minutes, 5 in. sub seconds and 5 in. sub hour dial with Roman hour numerals; top quality brass 8 day weight driven time only astronomical movement has fancy oversized turned posts, Graham deadbeat escapement with jeweled pallets, maintaining power and beat adjustment at the top of the crutch. Quality brass 6 spoke pulley with pierced decorated crossed “X” frame, brass covered weight; high quality 3 cut glass jar mercurial pendulum signed "Geo. A. Jones & Co. at No. 5 Courtland St., NY", has a silvered rod and silvered frame all with fancy etched filigree engraving. In a massive floor standing walnut case with maidens head carved crest, carved corbels and teardrop finials under the scalloped carved shoulder, has excellent raised and incised burl walnut panels framing the front of the case and has a large block base with beautiful inset panels; enhanced original finish, crest is replaced, teardrop finials are missing their points, has some losses to the veneer panels, pulley frame has repair. 106.5 in. high x 32.5 in. wide x 13.5 in. deep.
