Description:

Model 1861 U.S. Percussion Rifle-Musket with sling & Bayonet. 40" round barrel has a rusty bore that should clean up to be good. The lock is marked with an eagle and U.S. over Springfield in front of the hammer and 1862 behind the hammer. The top of the barrel is also dated 1862 and the exterior finish is small areas of bright finish with the majority having turned to a light brown. The stock is very good with a very faint outline of a cartoucote on the flat opposite the lock. The bayonet is marked US and is a mix of brown and blue. One end of the leather sling has broken. This is a nice example of the early civil war standard rifle. Estimated Value$1,200 - 1,600.
