Description:

MODEL 1861 US 58 CALIBER PERCUSSION RIFLE-MUSKET. 33" barrel with two bands. This gun is unusual in that the lock is dated 1864 which would make it a model 1863 type II, but it has the nipple clean-out screw of the model 1861. Lock is also marked U.S. over Springfield with eagle. Metal is rusty and pitted throughout. Wood stock has a couple of minor cracks and an extra channel 5 3/8" long at bottom of the stock behind the first band. Missing ramrod. This Civil War veteran deserves a good cleaning and restoration. Estimated Value $500 - 700.
