OHIO CIVIL WAR DRUM W/ H. LAWRENCE PHOTO. Lot of two items. First is a beautiful Civil War drum from Ohio. Drum is 16" high and 17" in diameter with an American eagle painted on the front. Eagle has a banner in its mouth that reads "Reg US Infantry" and a shield at its breast. Has olive branch in right talon and arrows in left. Drum has a blue background with most paint solid but nicely aged. To the right of this painted area is a 7" wide section decorated with brass tacks which surround the view hole. There is no label left on the inside. This is an extremely nice drum with a later belt and drumsticks. Second item is a photo of the drummer, Corporal Henry Lawrence Smith of Company A, 70th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. This information is on a card at back of the photo which is dated 1862. Photo is in a gutta percha frame with a copper border. 16"W x 17"H. Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,500.
