Palmer Civil War Bolt Action Carbine. Round barrel measures 20 in. long, bolt action .50 caliber rimfire with walnut stock, 2 leaf folding rear sight, saddle ring on the left; inspectors cartouche carved on the left flat with initials "MM", these initials are also found stamped in the barrel below the rear sight, initial "L" & initial "P" are also found on other parts. Top rear of the frame reads "Wm. Palmer - Patent - Dec. 22, 1863", lock plate is signed in 3 lines "U.S. - E.G. Lamson & Co. - Windsor, VT" and "1865" at the rear of the lock. In nice condition with a brown patina on the barrel, bolt slides and locks smoothly, hammer cocks & half cocks and the trigger is functioning. 37.25 in. long.
