THE CIVIL WAR COLLECTION OF HENRY B. WALKER. Please see website or email for complete listing and over 100 images of this lot! This selected group is directly out of the attic of the descendants of Henry B. Walker of the 121st Volunteer Infantry New York regiment, Company "E". During the Civil War, Walker served as a 4th Sergeant and he retired as a 2nd Lieutenant. One of the most famous battles in which he served was the "Battle at Salem Church, VA", where he was shot and seriously wounded. Many of these items describe the daily happenings during his travels, included in diaries and letters home. After the war, Henry is noted to have lead some official surveying work in the Adirondacks. Henry, along with his children and his wife, lived in Oneida County, NY and later moved to the Philadelphia area. Walker's saddle."Military Order of The Loyal Legion Member's Badge.Red, white, blue and gold enamel Maltese cross suspended by a ribbon with a red center bordered with white and edged with blue. Clasp numbered 3401. The Loyal Legion was formed in Philadelphia on April 20, 1865 - 6 days after Lincoln died. Its membership was open to commissioned officers of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps who served in the Civil War. Originally, a member had to be an officer during the Civil War. Later on, the membership was opened up to veterans of the Civil War who became officers at a later date. Still later, membership was opened to male lineal descendants of those qualified to join originally. The original ribbon has a red center bordered with white and edged with blue. When membership was opened to lineal descendants, their ribbon was changed to a blue center, bordered with white and edged with red. The modern badges issued today, have the old style ribbon colors. This badge, with its clasp numbered 3401, has the original box and certificate from Bailey, Banks & Biddle - Philadelphia. The certificate is issued to "Pay Director H. M. Denniston". Denniston of New York is noted as Commander and Pay Inspector, U.S.S. Hartford."Has a 2 branch guard and a brass pommel; leather wrapped handle over wood. Has a single edge blade w/ fuller. Blade has extensive rust and pitting, 80% of the leather on the handle is missing and the guard and pommel have some dings and dents.Non-regulation variation of the 1850 model U.S. officer's sword.Made in Germany. It has a sharkskin with brass wire wrapped handle and a fancy iron guard with cutout eagle & U.S. The blade is heavily etched and marked at the riccasso "Proof" and "V. Walscheid - Solingen"; the back edge of the blade is etched "Iron Proof". Blade has few tarnish spots, and some rust at the ricasso; guard, handle and pommel are very good, scabbard has some rusting.Remington 1891 target rolling block pistol in 22 rimfire.This pistol has an 8" round barrel with a blade front sight and a fixed V-notched rear sight in a narrow dovetail. The bore is in poor condition. Metal finish is mostly silver & brown with traces of case color on the receiver. The mainspring is broken and the hammer spur is missing. Wood stocks show hard use and there is a 1/2" by 1" chunk missing at the bottom of the front gripstrap. Factory records indicate only 116 of these pistols were made.Colt model 1860 army revolver.44 caliber 8" barrel is stamped Address COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Both sides of the barrel near the wedge pin are stamped with A C, as is the rear portion of the cylinder. The front of the cylinder is stamped with a D. Most of the metal surfaces are a silvery gray and the cylinder scene is partly visible but weak. Wood grips are in good condition. All numbers match, with an early SN# of 44,7xx. The mainspring is broken. A true Civil War veteran.Estimate for the entire lot $10,000 - 15,000. Estimated Value $10,000 - 15,000.
