Tiffany Young & Ellis Sterling Silver Teapot. This early piece of Tiffany made by J.C. Moore & Son and retailed by Tiffany & Co., 550 Broadway, circa 1954 a transitional time when Tiffany was breaking away from his partners Young & Ellis; during this time the standard .925 sterling silver marks were not used in the United States, Tiffany was determined to distinguish the quality of his goods and he began marking his sterling (.925-1000) with control marks such as using the word "Late" as this piece is marked. The pot has a repousse hand chased design with grape clusters, grape leaves & vines and a tree branch handle. Signed on the bottom "Tiffany & Co. over Late over Tiffany, Young & Ellis over 550 Broadway and has makers marks for silversmith J.C. Moore & Son. In very good condition with no breaks, dents or repairs; total weight 36 ozt. Monogrammed G.M.G. Measures 12.5 in. high.
