Description:
U.S. trapdoor Allin conversion model 1866 rifle. In 50-70 caliber. This is a 3 band with 35 5/8" barrel and a decent bore. Lock is dated 1864 behind hammer and is silvery gray in color, as is the breechblock and trigger guard. The barrel has turned a light brown and there is some surface rust at the muzzle. Wood stock is sound and crack-free - has 1915 stamped on left side of buttstock. breechblock is dated 1866 over an eagle. The ramrod is missing. This is a somewhat rare rifle with only 25,000 being converted. Estimated Value$750 - 1,250.
