The walnut bookstand has a swiveling leather top, which is raised when the drawer is pushed in, has 4 lower slide out shelves with leather surfaces, spiral turned columns on the corners, brass lions head mounts on the beveled side panels standing on turned feet, refinished. Accompanied by complete volumes 1, 2, 3 & 4 of Mr. Vanderbilt's House & Collection; Hard 2 tone leather bound edition with gilt embossing and beveled edges, Holland Edition, described by Edward Strahan and published by George Barrie (Boston, New York, Philadelphia), 1883-4. A rare and complete edition, numbered 307 of 1,000 copies, with hundreds of color and black & white photogravures from the Vanderbilt estate. In very good condition, pages are clean, overall tight and good (minor separation between the spine and front board of volume II). Books are 19 in. high x 14 in. wide. The stand is 28.5 in. high x 34 in. wide x 25.5 in. deep.
