Waterbury Dewey Brass & Iron Mantle Clock. Commemorating General Dewey and the Battle of Manila, has a gilt brass front with oval portrait of General George Dewey at the crest with scroll feet at the bottom and relief naval decorations including a cannon with cannon balls, musket, anchor and sabre, flags & eagle with wings spread, reads “Dewey – Manila” and artist signed on the front Hirschi, case signed on the reverse “P.L. & B. Co. 836” for the Pittsburgh Lamp & Brass Co. Brass 8 day double spring driven time only movement signed “Waterbury Clock Co.” with lever escapement and a large 5 in. painted metal dial; springs wind and hold power, movement is not running. Commemorates Dewey’s victory at the battle of Manila Bay, 1898 during the Spanish-American War. 14 in. high x 11.5 in. wide x 3 in. deep. Weight: 7.75 lbs.
