Blued open moon hour and minute hands and sweep second hand with some tarnish, 11" paper dial signed "H.J. Hoffman Jewelers - Loogootee, Indiana", has some foxing; polished brass bezel, typical time only pinwheel movement with pinwheel escapement, massive heavy gridiron pendulum and massive pendulum bob, single brass weight. In a cherry Colonial style case by Wholesale Jewelers of America; has a high crest with swirling filigree, centered with an oval medallion, the top frame has 4 carved floral mounts on the front and one on each side. Spindled drop skirt with scrolled filigree and seashell. In very good condition. This clock was originally seen in the J. Meyer Jewelers store in Loogootee, IN. The store was later purchased by his nephew and in 1906 the store was sold to Henry J. Hoffman, who had the paper dial added, and the clock stayed in the family and at the business until 1981, when his son Bob retired.
