Description:

Peabody Military Single Shot. 33" round barrel is about 44 caliber and has a good bore. The left side of the receiver is marked Peabody's Pat. Over July 22, 1862 over Man'f'd by over Providence Tool Co. over PROV. R.I. The sideplate,rear of the breechblock and rear of the bottom tang are all stamped with the letter E;the back of the lock is stamped with an R, the forward end of the lower receiver has an M, the lever has an H and the hammer has an N. The barrel bands have U stamped on both and the front band also has an E. The barrel blue is excellent with about 70-75% left, the receiver and lever are mostly gray. The wood stock is very good with some minor nicks and dents and a nice clear cartouche on the left wrist. The cleaning rod is missing. This is a nice, clean rifle. Estimated Value$800 - 1,200.
