Description:

US Army Staff & Field Officer's Sword, USA, model year 1850. Gilt brass phrygian pommel; black fishskin grip with gilt wires. Gilt brass openwork pierced guard with large "cup" and floral, leaf, branch and laurel designs; also "US" cypher. Single-edged curved blade with fuller and inscriptions "US", "E Pluribus Unum", US flag, trophies, floral designs. On ricasso, inscription reads, "Ames Mfg. Co., Chicopee, Mass." No scabbard. Blade is excellent, with very few rust spots. Estimated Value$700 - 900.
