Description:
Remington New Model Army Revolver. 8" octagon barrel is 44 caliber and has a fairly rusty bore with distinct rifling. The top of the barrel is marked, "Patented Sept. 14 1848" over "E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, New York, USA" over "New Model". Metal surfaces are mostly a dark black-brown with fairly extensive pitting. The serial number is 67,638. The brass trigger guard is stamped with a "P" at the front, right below the screw. The wood grips are very dark and don't appear to have a cartouche. The pistol functions well but the lock-up is a little loose. Estimated Value$700 - 900.
